Interesting uncast ballot from the election of the first members of the United States Congress. Printed Ballot reads 'BENJAMIN BOURN Firft Reprefentative to the Congrefs of the United States". Benjamin Bourne was a Rhode Island politician who was elected to first Congress of the United States and re-elected four more times serving from 1790 through 1796. He was appointed a judge in 1896 and never served his 5th term. 2 1/2" by 5" piece of paper features raised lettering and detail. Another hand has written "An uncast Ballot for the 1st Congress of the U. S." in vintage black ink. Displays beautifully from the front. Very small amount of black paper remaining on the back from previous album placement. Bottom and right edges appear to be hand torn. Interesting historical piece.
