Following a dream college season at LSU in which he won the 2019 Heisman Trophy and led the undefeated Tigers to the BCS title, Joe Burrow set his sights on the NFL. Drafted #1 overall by the Bengals, he looked poised to become the savior in Cincinnati after a blazing start to his 2020 debut campaign. In Week 11, though, Burrow tore his ACL and MCL, putting an abrupt end to his stellar rookie season. Considering the severity of his injury, the consensus was that he’d miss a chunk of 2021. But the cool kid from Ames, Iowa, nicknamed Joey Brrrr made an incredible recovery, starting the first 16 games as a super sophomore and guiding Cincy to the AFC title and a trip to the Super Bowl. His 108.3 QB rating topped the AFC, and he led the NFL with a 70.4% completion rate to earn 2021 Comeback Player of the Year.
Featured here is a significant piece of Bengals and NFL history: Joe Burrow’s game worn home jersey from Cincinnati’s exciting 41-31 shootout victory over rival Baltimore at Paul Brown Stadium on Dec. 26, 2021. In the divisional clash, Burrow set the Bengals’ single-game franchise record with 525 yards passing, surpassing Boomer Esiason’s previous mark of 490 set back in 1990. Three of Joey Burr’s four touchdown passes came in the first half as Cincy built a 34-14 lead. He diced up the usually stout Ravens defense to the tune of 37 completions in 46 attempts without an interception. His highlight reel throw of the day was a scrambling 32-yard TD strike late in the 4th quarter that got called back due to penalty, which would have given him 5 TDs and over 550 yards!
Authenticated by Fanatics through the company’s exclusive player license, the black alternate jersey displays obvious wear on the front and back numbers in the form of dark contact marks that are easily photo-matchable in several Getty images. Burrow’s No. 9 appears front and back in white tackle twill along with his captain’s “C” patch on the right chest. The inner collar has a size 42 Nike label and “2021” year tag. Each shoulder has orange Bengal stripes, and the inner neck holds a “Paul E. Brown” memorial patch. Burrow’s NOB appears in white tackle twill straight across the upper back on a black nameplate. Through Fanatics, the star QB has signed his back number with all the important milestone stats from the game inscribed in bold black marker. A Fanatics sticker (Unique ID: NR81052530; Keycode: KQX) certifies the game use date and signature.
This is the second Burrow gamer we’ve had the privilege of auctioning. The first one, from a 2022 regular season win over the Chiefs, sold for $82,864 in April 2023.
