Adam Vinatieri who is still competing in the NFL at the age of 45 is one of the league’s most accurate and durable kickers in history. Among placekickers he holds NFL records for most Super Bowl appearances (5) and most Super Bowl wins (4). He also holds NFL records among all players for most postseason points scored (234) and most overtime field goals made (12). He is the only player ever to score 1000 points with two different teams: the New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts.
This lot features a rare 2002 Adam Vinatieri New England Patriots game-worn Reebok “Throwback” jersey that he donned on November 28 2002 during a season in which the defending Super Bowl champs finished 9-7 and out of the playoffs. This style jersey is worn by the Patriots only one game each season and this time around it came against the Detroit Lions in Motown (Getty 1797755). Example from different player attached.
It includes proper Reebok manufacturer’s tagging on the lower left front tail that includes two flag tags (‘46” and “+2” LENGTH). The Patriots won that day 20-12 and Adam V. tallied two field goals and two extra points to help New England prevail. The red nylon/polyester mesh blend include a tag reading “02-46” on the inside rear collar to indicate the season and jersey size. Vinatieri’s jersey number “4” can be found on the front back and both sleeves in white on blue tackle twill. A red separately sewn on nameplate – “VINATIERI” – stretches across the shoulders and includes letters in white on blue tackle twill.
The future Hall of Famer has signed the rear number and added “4” in black marker just above where he has inscribed “Game Worn.” It includes with a pair of “Adam Vinatieri Authentic” holograms (#AV14085 and #V14086) to ensure the authenticity of both the signature as well as the game worn element respectively. For good measure Vinatieri has signed a letter for this gamer to confirm its authenticity.
