This tremendous action shot taken at Yankee Stadium on October 24, 1965, shows Cleveland’s Jim Brown running through an tackle attempt by safety Spider Lockhart of the New York Football Giants. In this first quarter play, Brown gained 12 yards as the Browns went on to beat the Giants, 38-14. He would go on to win his third MVP Award that year and lead the Browns to the NFL Championship Game. Though only 30 years old and still regarded as the best running back in the league, it would be Brown’s last season in the NFL as he transitioned to acting and involvement in the Civil Rights Movement. In the game, not only did Brown rush for 177 yards – his highest total during his farewell campaign – but he also caught a touchdown and even threw a TD pass!

The Type 1 photo measures 8” x 10” and shows just light edge wear. The back of the photo has the remnants of the original caption slug along with Wide World Photos and Random House stamps and a PSA/DNA sticker. It comes encapsulated as Type 1 by PSA/DNA.
